Christmas with Solaris includes a festive array of holiday selections for mixed voices with harp, flute and piano. Stirring arrangements of beloved carols including Silent Night, What Child is This and Ding! Dong! Merrily on High are featured along with premieres of two arrangements by Solaris member and Vermont Public Radio host, James Stewart – Hark the Herald Angels Sing and O Come, O Come Emmanuel. Additional highlights include Dominique Argento’s ecstatic setting of the Gloria from his opera, The Masque of Angels and Gustav Holst’s Christmas Day.

I Was Glad includes songs of hope, love and joy. Three of the tracks feature works with full organ accompaniment including C. Hubert H. Parry’s I Was Glad When They Said Unto Me, Randall Thompson’s The Last Words of David and Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Let All the World in Every Corner Sing with Dr. Susan Summerfield at the organ. Additional highlights include Charles Villiers Stanford’s ethereal The Blue Bird and The Road Home by Stephen Paulus along with the Alice Parker/Robert Shaw arrangement of the early American hymn Wondrous Love.

Sure on This Shining Night

Echoes—The Choral Music of Richard Stoehr is a joint recording project which includes choral works recorded by Counterpoint Vocal Ensemble and Bella Voce Women’s Chorus. A highly acclaimed composer and teacher at the Vienna Academy of Music, Stoehr fled Austria at th beginning of WWII. Following a teaching position at the renowned Curtis Institute, Stoehr spent the latter part of his life and his career composing and teaching Music courses and German at Saint Michael’s College. Stoehr’s gift for composing lyrical melodies supported by rich harmonies is evident throughout this recording of classical choral works.
